Victory for Cork Juniors!
All-Ireland JFC Semi-Final
Cork 0-14 Sligo 1-6
Well done to the Cork Junior Footballers, who beat Sligo in the All-Ireland Semi-Final today.
Despite difficult conditions caused by heavy rain, Cork got off to a strong start, racking up seven points before Sligo finally got on the scoreboard after almost 20 minutes. Further points from Carthach Keane and Liam Shorten saw the Rebels run in at half-time with a two-point lead, 0-9 to 0-2, and looking unlikely to be beaten.
However, Sligo made the better start to the second half, scoring a goal and a point in the first ten minutes before Andrew O'Brien extended Cork's lead again. Despite hard work from Sligo in the second half, they were unable to make any further inroads into Cork's lead, and even when Cork were reduced to fourteen men with the sending off of Kevin Harrington for a second bookable offence, victory was never in doubt for the Munster Champions.
Cork now meet Kildare in the All-Ireland Final on August 20th, time and venue tbc.
