Cork Coaching & Games Lee Flag Clubs' Activity Day 2014-09-23 06:00:00

Cork Coaching & Games LEE Flag Clubs U 10 Hurling Activity day took place last Saturday (September 20th) in Pairc Ui Rinn.

Boasting an entry of 70 teams the event was a great day for all clubs involved.

The day was made all the more special for the players with the presence of the Munster Hurling Championship Cup along with inter county stars Seamus Harnedy, Alan Cadogan and Conor Lehane who did a great job in signing autographs and posing for pictures that will be treasured in homes all over the county for years to come.
Clubs invited to attend have been picked from the LEE Flag Accreditation Scheme. This Scheme was setup in 2013 to point clubs in the direction of best practice on and off the pitch in the area of coaching and games development. Clubs who received accreditation and met the criteria set out have received various benefits throughout the year such as the chance to play in Croke Park and all the Provincial Stadiums. All Ireland final tickets and Munster Final Tickets along with this opportunity to play in Pairc Ui Chaoimh/Pairc Ui Rinn and mingle with inter county players.
It dove tails nicely with Cork Coaching & Games Monster Blitz Programme which has been running throughout the county since March where over 9000 children have attended hurling and football blitzes at local venues in fun non competitive games.

In all over 900 boys got the chance to showcase their skills on the hallowed turf with the event being coordinated by Games Manager Kevin O Callaghan and his team of Games Development Administrators.
A big thanks has to go to all the team mentors who really embraced the spirit of the day and went about their day with enjoyment and fun as the key ingredient to all games.

Non LEE Flag clubs were invited to a blitz in St Finbarrs where 11 teams attended a blitz co-ordinated by GDA Colm Crowley.

Also over the weekend, Whites Cross were rewarded for their inclusion in the LEE Flag Scheme when they came out in the draw for an All Ireland Football ticket. St. Catherine's had come out in the draw for the Hurling Final 2 weeks previously.

Clubs who wish to be accredited as LEE Flag Clubs should review the criteria that needs to be met immediately as the Bronze targets have to be submitted by October 1st.
