Cork Coaching & Games Monster Blitzes Continue! 2014-07-19 10:48:00

In a series of Blitzes arranged by the Cork GDAs, this weekend sees action for up to a 1,000 young U8 & U9 footballers throughout the County. Last week we had our U10s take to the fields of play around the county, this time its our U8's and U9's. 

This week the U8 & U9 Monster Football blitzes are taking place in the following areas this Saturday the 19th July with registration at approx 10am and games finishing at approx 12 noon 

The Avondhu region U8 Monster blitz is taking place in this week in Ballyhooley with over 14 club teams taking part organised by GDA Noel Crowley 0868375061

The Duhallow clubs will head to Kanturk for their blitz with 16 teams due to take part. This blitz will be run by Pat Spratt 086-8922800

The West Muskerry  region U8 Monster blitz is taking place in this week in Kilmichael with over 20 club teams taking part organised by Martin Coleman: 086-7725372

The Imokilly region U8 Monster blitz is taking place in Killeagh this week with between 12 &​ 14 club teams  involved, organised by GDA Sean Crowley 086-0548533

The Seandun/City region U8 Monster Blitz is taking place in Bishopstown with over 14 club teams involved & the U9 Monster Blitz is taking place in Glanmire with over 20 club teams involved, organised by GDA Colm Crowley: 086-3687799 

The Carrigdhoun-East Muskerry region U8 Monster blitz is taking place in Innishannon this week with between 8 and 12 club teams taking part organised by GDA Paudie O Brien 0867725411

The East Carbery region U8 Monster blitz are taking place again this week in Skibbereen with 18 club teams taking part and in Clonakilty with 18 club teams taking part, involved organised by GDA Kevin O Donovan 086-7753567.
An U8 Festival blitz is hosted by Eyeries Family Festival which is taking place on Sunday. 

The format of the Football Blitz is as follows. The Blitzes start with Assembly @10am, Game 1 @10.30 am, Game 2 @11 am, Game 3 @11.30 am,End @12 pm, each team gets to play three matches. Each team is 7-aside with the aim of Developing Basic Technical Skills in a controlled Competitive Environment developing the following skills, Body Catch, Low Catch,Punk Kick, Bounce, Hand Pass, Side Step. The duration is  2 x 10 mins and the recommended line out is 1-2-2-2 with normal rules and the following points to watch for No soloing, Limited Hand passing, Pick up allowed, Goalkeeper can restart with kick from hands, Frees are from the hand, there are no 45's  

Each week the Cork GDAs organise Hurling and Football blitzes aimed at our U8, U9, U10 & U12 in the  Go Games Format. In a program of events laid out at the start of the year for both Hurling and Football the Cork GDAs have been running these blitzes since the start of March and will continue on until October.

To enter any of our Blitzes, you will need to either text or email the appointed contact for you to enter your club on a blitz by blitz basis. All blitzes are open to all clubs. Games Development Administrators will be in touch with clubs closer to the date of each blitz to confirm your entry and all clubs are encouraged to enter at some venue around the county. When entering, please submit the following details: 1.Club Name 2.Team Manager phone & e-mail details 3.Number of teams being entered (games are 9-a-side for U10 and 7-a-side for U8).
