Coaching and Games Activity This Week 2013-10-01 06:41:00

A summary of the main activities being worked on this week are as follows :

The main focus this week is on Primary Schools Blitzes and under 13 hurling Regional Panels.

Noel Crowley GPO and Primary Schools Blitz Co-ordinator will have Blitzes in Coachford on Wednesday and Brinny on Thursday for third class pupils in surrounding schools. At Wednesday nights Sciath Na Scol AGM, schools will be briefed on the broader Blitz programme for the remainder of the year. Also, Liam Weir (Sciath na Scol) will be outlining to teachers how the GAA Ceim Ar Aghaidh resource pack can be useful in teaching the curriculum subjects using GAA topics.

The main focus of the week for all staff will be on Sunday where the visit of four Dublin fé 13 hurling squads to Ballyhea and Newtown will be eagerly awaited. They will be greeted by four Cork Regional Squads (North/Imokilly/City/Mid-West). The Cork Regional training squads have been working through the Summer with a view to end of year games. This event will be the boys first taste of hurling above club level. While there are players being selected to attend this blitz, the remaining boys available in the Regions will come together on Saturday morning in Carrigtwohill for Inter Regional games.

Also on Saturday, Douglas, Whites Cross, Whitechurch, St Vincents and Blackrock will be in Waterford for the annual Fé 10 Inter City Blitz. Best of luck to all those involved there. Meanwhile in Dunmanway, the Monster Fé 10 Hurling end of year Blitzes will be held. Judging by last weekends Fé 8 Blitz, clubs would want to book in early here as demand is likely to be high.

Finally in this week's bulletin, the Cork Coaching and Games Winter Calendar of Coach Education Courses and Workshops will be released later so please watch out for this as we have some exciting names and workshops around the county over the next 3-4 months.

Clubs wishing to meet Silver targets in the LEE Flag scheme have to organise an Easter or Halloween Camp. If your club did not run an Easter Camp, then you will have to run a Halloween Camp at the mid term break.
