Darragh Fitzgibbon June award winner;

It’s been a fantastic few weeks of hurling action with Cork involved in a number of high profile and thrilling encounter and when the dust settled on the drama Munster Champions in Senior and Under 21.
Several players were key to both teams, but the outstanding displays produced by Darragh Fitzgibbon saw the Charleville star honoured with the 96FM/C103 GAA Sports Star of the month award for June in association with the Rochestown Park Hotel.
The presentation took place this week and in accepting the award Darragh said “I am delighted to be here today and my thanks to all who helped me in the last number of years, with both Club and County and special thanks to my parents for their support at all times.”
County Board Chairperson Tracey Kennedy in congratulating Darragh said “Darragh has been inspirational in all games even illness did not hinder his performance and the bravery he showed in playing in the Under 21 Final is testimony to his spirit and of course we wish you the best of luck in the upcoming All-Ireland semi-finals.”
Tracey also paid tribute to the award sponsors RPH and 96FM/C103 for their continued promotion of these very prestigious awards and their ongoing support for our association here in Cork.
Tom Tobin of the RPH also congratulated Darragh on his award and wished him and both Cork teams all the best for the upcoming games.
Charleville club were represented by John O’Donnell and Mike Keane, while County Board Officers Jerry Walsh and Ronan Dwane were present as was Munster Council Treasurer Pearse Murphy.
Darragh’s proud family were also present among them his father Mossy himself a fine hurler with Milford. 
Darragh now joins the previous monthly winners, former County Board Treasurer Pearse Murphy in January and the joint February recipients Lorcan O’Neill Kanturk and Matthew Dilworth Knocknagree, March winner was Cork Camogie star Linda Collins, April went to Valley Rovers dual star Jack Walsh, Cork footballer Ruairi Deane won the May accolade as the lineup for the overall award winner for 2018 gains momentum.
