All-Ireland Qualifiers 2016-06-18 08:00:00

Following Cork's disappointing exit from Munster Senior Championships both in Football and Hurling, the Cork teams will now participate in the All-Ireland Championships through the Qualifiers. The Hurling team will entry the qualifiers in Round 1 with the football team entering in Round 2B.

The Round 1 Hurling Draw will take place next Monday morning, June 20th on RTE Radio after the 8.30am news.

The draw for round 2B of the Football will take place the following week.


ALL-Ireland Hurling Qualifier Draw

Round 1 

These games will take place on the weekend of July 2nd and 3rd.

Leinster Teams - Laois, Dublin, Westmeath, Wexford and the losers of Offaly/Galway

Munster Teams - Clare, Cork and the losers of Limerick/Tipperary

Teams are drawn from two bowls which shall be as follows:

1. Four Leinster Championship Teams

2. Three Munster plus one Leinster Championship team.  

(The Leinster Championship team to be included in the Munster group must be one of the two teams that qualified for the Leinster quarter-finals through the provincial qualifier group.  This will be either Offaly or Westmeath but will definitely be Westmeath if Offaly defeat Galway on Sunday to qualify for the Leinster final. If Offaly lose, a draw will be made to determine whether they or Westmeath are included with the Munster teams).

Round 2

The four winners from Round 1 will playoff. The draw for this round is open draw except for where teams who already met in the Provisional Championship cannot meet.

Quarter-Finals (Two games)

The winners from Round 2 will play Provisional losers of Munster and Leinster.


All-Ireland Football Qualifier GAA Football Draw  

Round 2B 

Four games will take place on the weekend of July 9th and 10th.  This draw involves the four winners from Round 1B (Down/Longford, Antrim/Limerick, Offaly/Londan, Wexford/Fermanagh) against the defeated “B” side Provincial semi-finalists (Westmeath/Kildare, Donegal/Monaghan, Cork and Galway/Mayo).

A separate draw will be made for home advantage and where two teams have met previously in this year’s provincial championship the winner of the provincial game shall have home advantage.

Round 3B (Two games Saturday 16th July)

This draw involves the four winners from Round 2B in open draw

Round 4B (Two games 30/7 - 1/8)

This draw involves the two 3B winners against Provisional losers of Leinster and Ulster 

Quarter-Fnals (Two games 6th August)

This draw involves the two 4B winners against Provisional winners of Leinster and Ulster
