2011 Captain Shane O'Neill hails from Bishopstown and is an engineer. He first played hurling at the age of 7 or 8 in Bishopstown Street Leagues and considers first touch to be the most important skill in hurling. He also enjoys soccer, baseball, NFL and golf, and as a child he wanted to be a WWF wrestler - preferably Bret Hart! His best hurling memory outside of playing is Cork winning the All-Ireland in 1999, and considers Wayne Sherlock and Brian Corcoran to be the best hurlers he has ever seen. Shane also has a talent for strapping ankles and believes that YouTube is the best invention ever! In ten years' time, he hopes to be still playing with his club.
