Biography

A secondary school teacher from the Douglas club in Cork city, Stephen first played hurling at home with his brother at the age of 4. He considers first touch to be the most important skill in hurling, and his best hurling memory outside of playing is Cork's All-Ireland victory in 1999. As a player, the highlights have been winning the County with his club and his two Fitzgibbon cup wins with UCC. DJ Carey is the greatest player he has ever seen, and if there was a transfer market in hurling, he would buy Tommy Walsh or Eoghan Long. Stephen also enjoys rugby, golf and poker (!), and as a child, he wanted to be a fire engine!! He considers the iphone to be the best invention ever, and would like to meet Mario Balotelli, John Bishop, Cheryl Cole or Jonny Wilkinson. In ten years' time, he hopes to be 34 and finished college...
