Munster Council Development Grants Presentations to Cork Clubs   21/12/2017

Munster Council Club Development Grants 

Munster Council Club Development Grants were presented last night Wednesday 20th December to Cork GAA Clubs in Páirc Uí Rinn.

Thirty eight clubs were allocated development grants, under the Munster Council 2017 Development Grants Scheme, in respect of works projects completed this year. 

Grant funding on Capital Expenditure of over €3,500,000 was sought by Cork GAA clubs. Grants support to the value of €347,912 was approved in respect of grounds developments and other facility improvements. Of the fund available this year, Central Council provided €185,000 with the balance of €162,912 coming from the Munster Council’s own resources.

The Munster Council were represented at the presentation by Chairman Jerry O Sullivan and treasurer Pearse Murphy. The Cork County Board were represented by Vice-Chairman Kevin O Donovan, Treasurer Diarmuid Gowen, PRO Donal Leahy and Development Officer Pat Horgan along with former Development Officer Richard Murphy.

Kevin O Donovan on behalf of the Cork County Board congratulated the thirty eight clubs who were receiving Munster Council Club Development Grants to the amount of €347,912.He also acknowledged the clubs for their continued grounds developments and the improvement of other facilities. He also acknowledged the work of former County Board Development Officer Richard Murphy and Munster delegate Diarmuid Gowen in assisting clubs to obtain these grants. Jerry O Sullivan on behalf of the Munster Council outline that the council had awarded over €1 million in development grants to clubs and schools this year. He congratulated all the  clubs who were receiving Development grants. He acknowledged the work of Richard Murphy former County Board Development for the clubs on the development grant scheme. He thanked Diarmuid Gowen for his work as a member of the Munster Council Development Committee. 

Thirty two of the Thirty eight clubs were represented for the presentations of the Grants.

The Cheques for the Development Grants were presented by Munster Council Chairman Jerry O' Sullivan to the clubs.  

The Munster Council is the only Provincial Council to present grants to Clubs for development.
